How many questions do you need to get right on IXL to get 100? ›

Students will need to answer as many as 10 questions correctly in a row to achieve mastery. For most skills on IXL, students will have to complete a minimum of 28 questions to earn a SmartScore of 100. When a student achieves a score of 100 on IXL, you can feel confident that they have truly mastered that skill.

Here, you'll see an overview of the student's IXL usage (questions answered, time spent, skills practiced) and a breakdown of math and ELA skills they've worked on. Pro Tip: Hover over the pie chart to see how many skills have been practiced in each strand!

Skills are organized by subject, grade level, and category. For each skill, you can see how much time the student has spent and how many questions the student has answered.

If you are having difficulty signing in, it could be because of your username or password. First, double-check that you are using the correct sign-in information. Students without an email address associated with their account will need to contact their teacher for help.

As always, a diagnostic level indicates a student's working grade level—for example, a level of 800 indicates readiness to work on eighth grade level skills.

These levels range from 0-1300, with 0-50 representing pre-K, 50-100 kindergarten, and 1300 representing the end of 12th grade. When students have completed their diagnostic, they can also check their own levels by visiting the Assessment tab. Page 5.

Infinite! There are over 8,500 skills and unlimited computer-generated questions, so there's always fresh and compelling content! With IXL's unique scoring algorithm, questions adapt to the student's skill level to ensure the student is constantly challenged and engaged.

IXL is a great tool to practice and reinforce topics. For math, it would work well as one of several stations that include manipulatives, group whiteboard practice, and other applied methods.

Can IXL cause stress? ›

Firstly, the repetitive nature of IXL's exercises can lead to feelings of monotony and frustration.

If you have an existing IXL account, just sign in to your account from the app and begin practicing on your iPad or iPhone. Without an account, you can practice ten free questions in each subject per day. If you'd like to have unlimited access, purchase a subscription at www.ixl.com/membership.

IXL recommends that students initially aim to diagnose until they reveal complete diagnostic data. This should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour per subject and can be done over multiple sessions. After getting their initial levels, students should answer about 10 to 15 questions per week in the Real-Time Diagnostic.

For example, a score of 650 indicates that the student has acquired about 50% of 6th-grade material, whereas a score of 700 indicates that the student is ready to learn 7th-grade material.

Using the Diagnostic Overview

*Note: Diagnostic levels correspond to grade levels. For example, a score of 850 indicates the student understands about 50 percent of 8th grade material.

A score of 80 is considered proficiency and 90 is excellence. Both scores show a strong understanding of a skill and may be the perfect stopping point. Mastery (a score of 100) is an extra challenge! It involves tackling the Challenge Zone, which has the most difficult questions in a skill.
