Penny loafers should fit closer to the feet than Oxfords and other lace-up shoes. The absence of laces means wearers will often sizing down to ensure a close fit.
There are two main causes of heel slip:
I. The Penny Loafers are too big and you have an expensive pair of slippers. Or;
II. The Penny Loafers are new and the heel counter, leather upper, leather/cork sole are all still a little stiff. Usually resolved once worn in.

STEP 1: TRACE TOP & BOTTON OF FOOT
Place your foot on a piece of paper. Wear the sock you intend to wear with the Loafers. Ensure you have your full weight on the foot for the most accurate measurement. Trace the top of your foot / bottom of heel at a 90 degree angle.
STEP 2: MEASURE LENGTH
Use a measuring tape to measure the back/central part of the heel to the end of the longest toe. Accuracy is important. If in any doubt, do it again.
STEP 3: MEASURE BALL WIDTH
Wrap a measuring table around the widest part of each foot. This will be over the joint over your big toe and just behind the little toe.
