I love that boss fight for the aesthetics and music alone.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

Too bad the actual fight is a pain in the ass. It's been years since I've played 06. Maybe I should see if its as bad as I remember. Not sure if I'll play Project 06 until it is finished.

Got Sonic Jam in the mail yesterday and played Sonic 3 & Knuckles on it today.

Played up to Launch Base and next time I’ll finish the second half.

I finally got around to beating Sonic Generations, with all S ranks in the main stages (because I'm not doing all of the missions). Modern Sonic is excellent but Classic Sonic suffers from heavy physics and level design in the latter half that punishes speed.

I honestly felt that Classic Sonic can still go plenty fast, the later stages just require high precision to do it. I think that's not too dissimilar from how the 2-D Sonics have usually been.

Some of the late game level design felt much more dickish than classic Sonic but was otherwise fine. Though why even acknowledge 06? It non-canonized itself for the fans. Also there were no good levels to bring back (for the record, Crisis City is fine in Generations). On the topic of weird levels to bring back, why Planet Wisp? It's already my least favorite world in Colors. Would've prefered Aquarium Park or Starlight Carnival.

I like Crisis City in Generations, but I still firmly believe Kingdom Valley would've been the CORRECT choice for an 06 level. There's too many city levels in Generations, even if this one is destroyed and on fire.

I like Planet Wisp, but I think Starlight Carnival or Asteroid Coaster would be cool choices.

Still can't believe Generations didn't have any level DLC, other then the pre-order bonus Casino Night pinball stage... Well, I guess in a way, NOW its finally getting new levels. If you're okay with Shadow focus.

I beat Sonic's scenario in Sonic Superstars. Of all of the games released in 2023 that was certainly one of them. I'll never get how people prefer Superstars just for having original zones when the new zones are much blander and less imaginative than Mania's reimagined zones. The levels themselves are meh. I played them, they're fine I guess. The bosses are horrible with the Egg Diablo being a prime example of their horrible design. I guess I have the extra scenario to do next.

...f*ck it, hate to say it, but I'm going to be that guy: the problem with Sonic 06, absolutely wasn't the level designs, they were nothing short of immaculate across the board. Were the controls to be more polished than they were, we would be having a far different conversation surrounding Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)... but the controls and glitches are the problem, so... tough luck unfortunately.

There's no one problem with 06. You can't narrow it down. It is a atrocity across the board.

... Except the music.

I'm not saying that Sonic '06 is a good game or the likes, GOD NO, dunking on it is actually one of my favorite pastimes. The beasti*al*ty kiss, the fact that Blaze and Amy are underutilized, the glitches, the stiff controls, collision detection being RNG, for f*ck's sake, the game itself made for one of the funniest videos Lythero has ever put out, the game is a platinum mine for riffing material.

...But I'm standing by what I said about the actual level design itself actually being really well thought-out, and the music, as per series tradition, being filled to the brim with bangers. There's a mod to the game, of folks setting out to make the game good, and like the one thing they didn't need to change, was the level design.

(That being said, even I'm not defending the ball puzzle, f*ck the ball puzzle.)

Sonic isn't a real life f*cking hedgehog he's a fictional character who's fully capable of perceiving the world the same way humans can, and only has superficial similarities with the animal he's named after.

Just say you think the kiss is stupid and move on.
